ANSWER:
Great list!! I love almost all those songs! Just letting you know, you have "A Year Without Rain" on there twice. (#74 and #88)
I would also say "Back to December" by Taylor Swift. It's one of the new ones and it's been pretty popular.
"The Dog Days Are Over" by Florence and the Machine
"Forget You" (You could put the Cee Lo Green one, but I really like the Glee version and that's really popular too!!! It's number 11 on the Billboard Top 100 right now!)
"Animal" by Neon Trees
"Temporary Home" by Carrie Underwood (It was released in 2009, but the music video was released in 2010.)
"Come Back Song" by Darius Rucker
Yeah, that's all I can think of right now.

ANSWER:
It's an okay list but how are you going to explain the lack of "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" by Geto Boys, "I Seen a Man Die" by Scarface and "It Was a Good Day" by Ice Cube plus at least a couple of songs by Public Enemy?
You are on the right track but it's too much east coast bias, #32, #41, #45 are awesome though!
And good work on #40, a damn classic!

ANSWER:
wow that list is complete trash, one of the most pathetic lists I've ever seen. Only good songs on it are Bohemian rhapsody which very well should be on a list like that and plug in baby by muse which while being good certainly wouldn't be anywhere near my top 100 rock songs. The rest is junk. Kerrang is one of the worst magazines to read, seems their editors have the worst taste in the history of the world. 30 seconds to mars, HIM, and MCR at the top 3? that couldn't be more hilariously bad.
this list makes rollingstone's lists look flawless in comparison.

Does anyone in the world like Type o Negative anymore!?

QUESTION:
How big exactly were the beatles?
I seen an interview on the news with some guy today who, when asked where Michael Jackson ranks in the all time great list, replied that he would most definitely be in the top 10, I thought, duh, don't you mean top 5, or in my opinion top 3. From my own senses I have The Beatles, Elvis, and Michael Jackson, in that order. Now I'm only 21 so weren't around when any of these were at their peak, but as I said, this ranking is just what I sense. It is hard to put in words, but you know what I mean.
Anyway, being from Liverpool, birth place of the beatles, as a kid I kind of had a fascination with them. I used to kind of feel a magic whenever I was at any place here that they had once played in or even walked by here in Liverpool. When I was a kid I used to read up on them and listen to their music a bit, but one thing I could never truly understand was how big they actually were, since it was such a long time ago. The Beatles today, well here in the UK anyway, are hardly mentioned in newspapers, on tv, or even spoken about. I used to think, these people were so huge and that is the reason they aren't spoken about anymore. So big that, I just can't put it in to words what I mean. Now, however, I feel that these people aren't spoken about no more because they were from such a long time ago and people have kind of moved on. Weird thing is, I tend to hear about lesser artists of that day much more than I do of the Beatles. Even in Liverpool, no one ever discusses the beatles. Sometimes I think people here don't even know the band came from here.
One thing when I do hear or read about the beatles is how they changed music, fashion, and culture forever. I once heard a guy on TV say, 'imagine a world without the beatles, you can't can you?' Without the beatles, there would be no [list of musicians goes here] is another comment I have heard.
Now I am older and grown out of this fascination of the beatles, the magic just don't seem to be there no more. I can't work out - maybe because we have seen nothing like it, and probably never will do, in this day and age - how people could have had such an obsession with four lads from liverpool and how they could have changed so much in the world. Was the world just like that in those days?
The beatles used to hold a lot of records, but one of the only news I hear of the beatles these days is that another of their records have been broken. When you hear of top 100 song lists, there aren't too many beatles songs in there.
Can someone try and give me an understanding of how big the beatles were. Maybe a comparison with another artist, maybe a comparison of the day and age we live in (i.e. how big they would be now). How exactly did they change music, fashion and culture? What would the world be like without the beatles. It would be great to hear from someone who experienced the beatles.
-
ANSWER:
The Beatles changed the world. Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson: all very popular and very good, but the Beatles change art.

ANSWER:
Your question is a very good one and hopefully would bring out a lot of responses.
First, from your list, it looks like we are working with the rock and roll era. - that's good.
If your question was your favorite top 100 that would be different for each person. But you are specific to the greatest songs ever and that also would change from person to person.
I like your list and will need to take some time to check it out. I will need to compare against my favorites and see if I can add to the songs you have listed.
The following may not be my favorites to replace but may be a better song for the artist.
Some possible suggestions:
For One - Three Dog Night - (Joy to the World - Mama Told Me (Not to Come) or Black and White) could replace
For Bad Moon Rising CCR - Proud Mary CCR could replace
For Your Song - Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding could replace
For Jukebox Hero - Feels like the First Time or Waiting for a Girl Like You could replace
For Welcome to the Jungle Guns and Roses - a song like Get Over It - Eagles may replace
For The Joker - Rock N Me or Abracadabra by Steve Miller
For These Eyes the Guess Who - I might replace with 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago
For the two Who Songs which are also great I may replace with Won't Get Fooled Again and My Generation
For Sharp Dressed Man - Legs or Gimme all Your Lovin or La Grange by ZZ TOP
For Don't Stop - I had Dreams or Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac
For Stevie Wonder Signed Sealed and Delivered may replace I Just Called to Say I Love You
I was also trying to find a place for More Then a Feeling - Boston , A Day in the Life - The Beatles, Crazy on You - Heart, and I'm Eighteen - by Alice Cooper
If I had some more time I could add a couple more to the list. Your list is great and it would make a fine 5 or 6 CD Box set.

Out of all these songs that were on the BET Top 100 for the end of last year, here are the ones that involved "hip hop" artists in some way......I look thro the list and I am not surprised at how many of these songs was wack and I completely hated.....Look at some of the ones you like and dont like and see where the rappers in the songs are from... You'll probably notice theres some regions of the country that you like their music way more than others......These were the most played and shown on TV videos last year which really makes me really really embarrassed where I think hip hop is headed.....I'd like to see which cities or regions your least favorite songs or from......I just thought it would be interesting to see......

ANSWER:
I know what you mean, lol. But I gotta say I love T.I. and Ludacris. I can tolerate them. Flo Rida can go somewhere with the mess he calls music. I like Three 6 Mafia too, don't know about their recent stuff though. And I don't even bother with MTV or BET. They suck.

QUESTION:
Do you think that rock and country are fading and the music world is becoming dominated by rap and hip hop?
Last i checked, there were 9 country songs on the billboard top 100. There were however, 15 rap/hip hop songs. Rock, which is diminishing but still strong, held a pretty fair number of spaces with 16 and songs of the pop genre held 12. I forgot how many spaces were held by R&B, Inspirational, or alternative songs. What's even more alarming is that 8 of those 15 rap/ hip hop songs were in the top 40! Is American music losing its variety to a genre that speaks of nothing but sex and violence?!
-
ANSWER:
Like country music is much better...if i generalize the same way you do, all country music talks about is drinking and depressing stuff and being broken up with...(and no, i don't like rap. i just can't stand overgeneralizations)
*now that that's out of my system*
I wish i could say that was the case, but I can't. I'm in west virginia where country and rock music reign supreme....

QUESTION:
THIS DANCE SONG!?!?!?
There is this song that I heard on Itunes and youtube. I really like it but I can't remember what it's called. It was on Itunes top 100 dance songs a couple weeks ago. In the music video it has these weird cartoon/drawn alien things flying around in space in like their colorfull world. Anyway sounds weird but if anyone knows what it is called that would be great!
Thanks
It's not Lights.......
(It has a really good chorus but then kind of boring repetitive verses)

QUESTION:
Battle of the annoying and overused questions!?
which of the following ticks you off the most when you see it continually posted?
"Can you tell me some bands i would like?"
"Can you give me tabs to this song?"
"*enter crappy band here* is the greatest band in the world and they saved my life!"
"What are the top 100 rock songs?"
"Why do they put rock and pop in the same section?" (valid but WAY overasked at this point)
nah i play a fender squier not much to worship

QUESTION:
Which of these songs would you want on your ipod?
Choose one answer between these choices
A) 80 tracks of Hiphop/rap songs that have been top hits
B) 60 tracks of Euro-dance, techno, trance, house, remix, 80s retro, 90s
C) 45 tracks of Celtic/roots/folk songs/world music/poetry/swing jazz/blues
D) 30 tracks of Oldies/Motown/Classic Rock/
E) 50 Tracks of Ska/Punk/Metal/Green Day/Nirvana/Sublime
F) 100 tracks, all of None of the Above. So if it falls into any of the above genres, it wouldn't be among the songs you'll get.
Choose.
so if there's a genre i missed, don't get all defensive, it will be part of what may potentially you'll be getting in choice F.
Examples for choice F?
Indie, ambience, gospel/holiday songs, classical music, girly groups, love songs, ballroom slow dance songs, ...etc
yep I suppose you can combine.
Also Category C in World Music would cover all the salsa latino stuff. so I'm guessing whoever picked A and C may like the Caribbean!!!!

QUESTION:
Who is the better front man?
For Van Halen? I've searched online for the information and would like to give my own opinion and would like to hear everybody else' as well.
David Lee Roth was by far one of the greatest front men in history. He was energetic, hyped up and knew how to put on a show. Sammy Hagar is by far one of the greatest singers ever, what Diamond Dave lacked in vocals Sammy did more then made up for. Sammy was also an accomplished guitarist and knows how to piece together music. He brought more to the table then David Lee Roth did in my opinion. Now with the Stats.
Van Halen with David Lee Roth
Album: Van Halen (Debut Album) Number 117 on The Billboard 200. Sold Over 10 Million as of 1996.
Pop Singles Charts
"You Really Got Me" Number 36
"Running With The Devil" Number 84
Album: Van Halen ll - Number 6. Sold 5 million.
Pop Singles Charts
"Dance The Night Away" Number 15
"Beautiful Girls" Number 84
Album: Women and Children First - Number 6. Sold 3 million.
Pop Singles Charts
"And The Cradle Will Rock" Number 55
Album: Fair Warning - Number 5. Sold over 2 million
Mainstream Rock
"Mean Street" Number 13
"Unchained" Number 12
"So This is Love?" Number 15
"Push Comes To Shove" Number 29
Album: Diver Down - Number 126 on The Billboard 200. Sold 4 million
The Billboard Hot 100
"(Oh) Pretty Woman" Number 12
"Dancing In The Street" Number 38
Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks
"Where Have All The Good Times Gone?" Number 17
"Secrets" Number 22
"Little Guitars" Number 33
"The Full Bug" Number 42
Album: 1984 - Number 2 on The Billboard 200. Sold over 10 million
The Billboard Hot 100
"Jump" Number 1
"Panama" Number 13
"I'll Wait" Number 13
"Hot For Teacher" Number 56
Van Halen with Sammy Hagar
Album: 5150 - The bands first number 1 album. Sold over 6 million.
The Billboard Hot 100
"Why Can't This Be Love?" Number 3
"Dreams" Number 22
"Love Walks In" Number 22
Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks
-Also Included "Summer Nights," "Best of Both Worlds," and 5150."
Album: OU812 - Second number 1 album. Sold over 4 million.
The Billboard Hot 100
"When It's Love" Number 5
"Black and Blue" Number 34
"Finish What Ya Started" Number 13
Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks
-Also included "Mine all Mine, and "Feels So Good."
Album: For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge - 3rd number 1 album. Grammy Award - Best Hard Rock Performance, 1991. Sold over 3 million.
The Billboard Hot 100
"Top of The World" Number 27
"Right Now" Number 55
Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks
-Also incuded "Poundcake(1)," "Runaround(1)," Man On a Mission(21)," "The Dream is Over(7)"
Album: Balance - Number 1 album. Sold over 3 million.
The Billboard Hot 100
"Can't Stop Lovin' You" Number 30.
"Not Enough" Number 97
Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks
-Also included "Amsterdam(9)," "Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)(1)," and "The Seventh Seal(36)."
ALL SALES ARE AS OF AUGUST 2004.
So, in essence with David Lee Roth, Van Halen had 2 albums sale more then 10 million copies each, 2 albums reach the Billboard Top 200, had 6 songs reach the Billboard top 100 with 1 going to number 1, and 8 Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks.
With Sammy Hagar, Van Halen had 4 number 1 albums in the Billboard top 200 which includes their very first. They had 10 songs reaching the Billboard top 100 chart, 12 Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks, and a Grammy award. This isn't everything, just some side by side comparison.
Well point of this question is to see what other people think and get a view of other peoples perspectives. I didn't want someone saying, "Look up the album sales" so I thought I would get some info on both artists to do away with that claim. I want to know what you guys think, and why you think that way. Not by the stats, though there they are so you can read them if you want.

QUESTION:
top TECHNO/TRANCE tracks?
If you share my taste in music I would like to know of any tracks you think I should listen to.
Some critics place tracks in top 100 lists based on their influence in the techno scene but the tracks I pick out are mostly recent productions, with the exceptions of Miro -“paradise,” Push – “strange world,” and café del mar - “energy 52”. I suppose groups like Kraftwerk, The future sounds of London, and orbital deserve some honorable mention but are too out dated for my taste. Also Eno was a great ambient producer of the past. I left out underworld – “born slippy” from the top list because although it was a great song it went from hard to peaceful and I can’t be in the mood for both in one track A lot of great original productions aren’t listed simply because they aren’t available to the average music consumer but I would check out www.releaserecords.com. I prefer the dark moody sounds of artists such as Markus Schulz so in that sense I am biased. I also have a soft spot for some of the more ambient sounding tracks. I steer away from the harder tracks and prefer trance and progressive over techno. I did not add Sasha’s Northern Exposure on the best album list because honestly I felt bored listening to it. DJ tiesto was my past favorite and I think his mixing is top notch but that his productions are lacking, and I was not impressed with his recent work. Armin seems to me like he will take the top spot. However, I don’t feel he is the best necessarily, just more likeable. Moby was not listed although he is brilliant but his style is too different and in a league of its own. But I suppose his “children of the corn” would make it on my list some place as well as some other key tracks.

QUESTION:
Who likes my 100 ways to know if your obsessed with the Twilight Saga?
Can you tell me what you like/dislike about it? If you dislike something, maybe tell me how to change it? By the way, if you have NO reason answering this question and just want to be rude, PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE!
You know you are obsessed with Twilight when...
1.) You use quotes from the books in your regular speech without realizing it
2.) You sleep with the saga piled next to your bed at night
3.) You squeal every time you see a silver Volvo, even if it's not your favorite car
4.) You screamed and nearly ripped the book apart when you read that Edward left in New Moon
5.) You write hateful comments toward the person who put out Midnight Sun in your Diary
6.) You laughed for 5 minutes straight when Jacob got punched for kissing Bella
7.) You start to hear Edward's voice in your head every time you read New Moon
8.) You hear thunder, and you automatically think of vampires playing baseball
9.) You named your teddy bear Emmett, in honor
10.) You eat, breathe, speak, live, and love in Twilight terms
11.) You write your own vampire history and then you intertwine it with the Cullen's
12.) You flaunt your paleness
13.) You have holes in your page at the parts where you cried your eyes out (good thing you have more than one copy (: )
14.) Every time you do something really cool or spontaneous, you like to say "It's because I'm secretly a vampire."
15.) You get your friend and your friend's mom hooked on it at the same time
16.) You hear, "Want to go shopping?" and you automatically think of Alice
17.) You are highly considering naming your child a character from the saga
18.) You look at the guy you're crushing on and think, Damn it! WHY DON'T YOU SPARKLE?!
19.) You freak out every time you see the word twilight, even when it has nothing to do with the saga
20.) You cry every time you think about the fact that the man you love is fictional
21.) You refer to Twilight as the 'Black and Red Bible'
22.) You catch yourself looking every time someone says the name Edward or Jacob
23.) Your books have been passed around so much that you had to get new ones
24.) You hear someone say Edward isn't real and you shout back, "EDWARD IS REAL AND HE'S MY BOYFRIEND!!!"
25.) You put your toy lion next to your lamb
26.) You see a dog bowl, and you think of Blondie and Fido
27.) You are unconsciously attracted to the colors red, black, and white
28.) You can't see the end of the fourth movie of Harry Potter without crying (tear, poor Pattinson)
29.) You have gotten into loud arguments with the guys you hang out with over why Edward is so romantic and not gay
30.) You are immediately attracted when a guy says his name is Edward or Jacob
31.) Every time you see an apple, you smile and giggle uncontrollably
32.) Bella's lullaby is one of the top played songs on your itunes
33.) You look at the clock, and instead of saying 10:23, like it did last time you looked, it says 1:10, and you think Man, how did that happen?
34.) You see plastic vampire fangs and you say to yourself, "How stereotypical."
35.) Every time you see someone named James, Victoria, or Laurent you walk the other way
36.) You think pale Forks guys are way hotter than tan California guys
37.) You are reading about the medieval times, but you are really thinking of Carlisle
38.) You suddenly think every diamond in the world should be heart-shaped, and every block of wood should look like a wolf
39.) You observed that someone was reading a red and black book, and can't rest until you know which one it is
40.) You secretly look for 1953 Chevys, silver Volvos, yellow Porches, black Mercedes, and red Fararris on the road
41.) You stop arguing with people, because you know that Carlisle would be displeased
42.) You want to go hunt for bears, mountain lions, and elk to see how good you will be at it when you join the Cullen's coven
43.) While in the middle of reading a Twilight book, you aren't doing as well in school, because you can't think straight
44.) Your new favorite hobbie is discussing how vampires and shape-shifters could exist
45.) You now hate precipitation and want to be clumsy
46.) You meet a guy, then think about how he is too much like Mike Newton

48.) You type in "Twilight" on Google, and spend hours sifting through the results
49.) You plan to live in Forks when you get older
50.) You are going to apply for the University of Alaska
51.) You search on the internet every now and then, just to find a house like Charlie's
52.) Your dream in life is to be just like one of the characters
53.) You are always carrying at least two of the books around with you
54.) You dedicate all of your free time, including lunch, to read the saga
55.) You have started to use words like "inconspicuous", "ostentatious", "inconsequential", "unequivocally", and "irrevocabl
Hmm. It seems you have a limited amount of space post. Sorry about the other 45.

i really like the one where its like "you look at the clock and its like 1:30 and you think when did that happen?!?!?" thats pretty much me. i think you should add you made your avatar look like one of the twilight characters (mines rosalie at prom because i <3 emmett) or (like me) you searched "you know you're obsessed with twilight when..." just to be sure you're not alone on the whole freakishly obsessed thing. i really liked your list because i was looking at this one and its like "you saw some drunk guy and it reminded you of carlisle!" and i was like what???? anyways... keep up the good work!

QUESTION:
So what exactly is my musical taste ("my" genre) ?
I have been wondering for a long time so what kind of music is my thing and cant resolve to any genre. I am a mindless listener, I have insignificant knowledge of music, compositions, chords, even notes, basses, beats... so sometimes its hard for me to tell which is a good song, i just listen to the song and decide if it is good without any actual thinking process. But now im starting to get more serious about music appreciation (it can be embarrassing to repeatedly admit you dont really listen to music when all your friends are somewhat tasteful-but-unprofessional listener), and to find songs i enjoy i have to define my music taste first. Could you please help me define which (sub)genre of music would most likely be my thing and suggest some typical pieces as example?
Here are some infos which could be useful:
I dont seem to enjoy most metal music. I prefer something more soothing, and i prefer the sound of violin, piano over bass, drum, and sometimes guitar. I do enjoy some rock songs though.
I dont enjoy catchy but repetitive tunes, with an overly simple "background". I dont enjoy the majority of temporary pop either. There are exceptions, like Ingrid Michaelson, but i think i like her music more because of the lyrics.
I dont like Rap.
I have limited experience with R&B, soul, Jazz, but i think some Jazz pieces are really nice, though i cant quite name any (imagine music in a silent wine bar, with tea room singer, you can almost hear the chatter, the bottle poping open and the sound of wine being served)
I have a liking for opera's ambience, with some of the artists like Enya, Andrea Bocelli, The Three Tenors, ... but i cant definitely put any of their songs in my "top favourite" selection, my liking for them fluctuates.
Many of my favourite songs are from the 60-70s, mostly pop.
I tend to prefer the songs in the Top 40 Contemporary than the Top Hot 100 (i tend to prefer more "mature" songs, in term of meanings). Some people dont really care about lyrics but i feel a crappy lyric on a good melody ruins it. And somehow the melody of contemporary songs is different too.
Normally i can only enjoy 1-3 songs by the same artist, i have yet to find an artist that i can enjoy most of his/her/their songs
Some of my favourite songs:
What a wonderful world - Louis Armstrong
I dont wanna miss a thing and Amazing - Aerosmith
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head - B.J.Thomas
Hey Jude - The Beatles
Father and Son - Cat Steven (Yusuf Islam)
Wake me up when September ends - Green day
American pie - Don McLean
Your song - Elton John
Tears in heaven - Eric Clapton
May it be - Enya
You and I and The way I am - Ingrid Michaelson
Goodbye my lover and You're beautiful - James Blunt
She will be loved and This love - Maroon 5
Bleeding love - Leona Lewis
The winner takes it all - ABBA or Meryl Streep, both fine
Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel
Kiss me - Sixpence none the richer
The end of the world - Skeeter Davies
Desperado - The Eagles
Pérsephone - Third Eye Blind
Happy together - The Turtles
I will be eager to provide any additional info on my listening habit if needed. Thank you very much to read upto here.
I realize that chances are slim if this question will be answered, so if you dont answer this question due to any reasons, i would be just as happy and will choose your answer to the question below as best answer (in case no-one answers the original question):
Metal music is said to be melodic, however i cant seem to feel its melody, it seems to be interupted by the loud beats and basses. this is due to my lack of knowledge and not an attempt to bash metal music, can anyone tell me how to listen for the "flow" in metal music ? Any good example for a starter ?
Thank you very much.

ANSWER:
The bands/artists you listed all fall into different genres (Classic Rock, Blues, Alternative Rock, etc.), so it's hard to really pinpoint a specific genre for you. But I think "Top 40" would be the best description of what you're looking for. People usually use that as a generic term for eveything excluding Rap, Metal, Dance-Pop or Country; basically the kind of stuff they play in grocery stores and Doctor's offices (no offense, I like a lot of the same bands. Just making an observation, that's all :p) and such because it's "acceptable" to everyone, whether they particularly like it or not. I guess it could also be classified as Pop (as in popular, which is the real definition of Pop music before Bubblegum and Dance Pop changed it), Mainstream, Adult Contemporary or Easy Listening.
Anyway, though, some others bands/artists you may like are...
The Hollies (similar to The Beatles and the Turtles)
"Bus Stop" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It75wQ0JypA
Enigma (similar to Enya)
"The Return to Innocence" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk_sAHh9s08
Regina Spektor (similar to Ingrid Michaelson)
"Fidelity"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wigqKfLWjvM
Muse (similar to Maroon 5)
"Uprising"
http://www.myspace.com/video/muse/uprising/100619157
As for Metal music, it gets tricky because Metal has the most sub-genres of any other kind of music; Black, Symphonic Black, Death, Melodic Death (Melodeath), Pagan, Viking, Thrash, etc. Some of the genres like Symphonic Black and Melodeath are actually quite melodic in music (often with pianos, orchestras, operatic backing vocals, etc.), but the vocals are still primarily sceams or growls. If you want something with melodic music and clean vocals, though, you may like some Gothic Metal...
Type O Negative
"Love You To Death"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD5No_JRrZw
(RIP Peter Steele)
We Are The Fallen
"Bury Me Alive"

QUESTION:
How talented was Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan of the band Avenged Sevenfold?
I specifically want the two following questions answered. Was Jimmy one of the top 100 drummers in the world? Can many drummers sing while playing?
Please don't let the fact that you love/hate Avenged Sevenfold affect your answers. Also, keep in mind that Mike Portnoy drummed for the songs on Nightmare but Jimmy wrote what was to be drummed.
For the few of you that haven't listened to Avenged Sevenfold, listen to the DRUMMING of "Bat Country," "Almost Easy" or any other song fans may suggest. The song "Critical Acclaim" has Jimmy singing while drumming at around 1:35 into the song.
All opinions are valued. Please give me your input. Thanks.
Thanks again to everyone that answered. I myself am a huge Avenged Sevenfold fan but I am not going to say Jimmy was literally the best drummer in the world if he was not. I will say though that he was very talented. As far as I know, he wrote most of Avenged Sevenfold's songs, he sang pretty well for Pinkly Smooth, he could play the piano, and of course he could play the drums.
-
ANSWER:
Well, my non-biased opinion is that you got to consider how many drummers there are out there and that there are people on Youtube that kill the drums better than a lot of pros. Considering everyone in the world that plays drums, it's hard to say which drummers belong in the top 100, I'd say Mike Portnoy and Neil Pert, Buddy Rich, Keith Moon and several others, but as far as the rest I really wouldn't know. Does it come down to the popularity of the drummer or the actual talent? Now I don't think the Rev was untalented. From a drumming perspective I think he did a good job on City of Evil. The self titled album and Nightmare I thought weren't as good and for me didn't have much impact, but yeah it does takes practice to sing and drum. I believe if the Rev was to make it into a Top 100 it would have to be for COE, but there are so many drummers out there. I would seriously have to narrow it down to modern drummers, since the 2000's.
But yeah, like I say, he doesn't suck completely.

It`s the way that you touch me
You let me know that you love me
And the way that you kiss me

And nobody's gonna take me from you
[Hook]
You got, you got,you got me
Going crazy I`m caught up

QUESTION:
Prof. Anger's Top 101 (mix tape rules) Countdown, #95?
Hi Everybody,
So, just to recap. This is a top 101 that I put together and will be counting down via songs of the day. Mix tape rules simply means that I limited myself to one song per band. I felt this added dynamic made for a better list in many ways, aside from making the project of creating it that much more rewarding and fun.
So far we've had:
101. The Violent Femmes - Add It Up
100. Unkle (feat. Thom Yorke) - Rabbit in Your Headlights
99. The Tyde - Henry VIII
98. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Runnin Down a Dream
97. They Might Be Giants - Road Movie To Berlin
96. The Stranglers - Golden Brown
I will say that #95 is a unique situation. I actually discovered it as the opening credits song to a sitcom and I just loved the tune (don't worry, as much as I absolutely love it I haven't set out The Cosby Show Theme, Circa Season 2 for you). It's also kind of a unique choice for me in it's overall sound, but I just love the lyrics and the way that the vibe and sound of the song just support it. It's just a song that makes me feel really good. One of those "can't help but smile and bob my head" tunes. Turns out I've checked out a few more of their tunes and I'm just not really into it, but I really thought they caught lightning in a bottle. Thank you Drew Carey (also, gotta say, I dig Cleveland Rocks too. Hats off to their music coordinator).
The Vogues - 5 O'Clock World

So, what did you think? Comments?
Any big plans for the weekend?
BMQ: What's your favorite song about getting off work?
Thanks a lot for listening and checking in. Happy Friday.
(RE #94: I have really fond memories of my dad spinning this 1 hit wonder tune back in the 80s. I'm not really sure what else to say without giving it away. Quads and cliffs.)
Oh yeah, I also thought it was a particularly neat coincidence that this song fell on a Friday. Such a great Friday tune.
Thanks Leech. Have a good weekend man.
Hi Shades,
I know. I noticed a couple days ago that it would fall on a Friday and that made me really happy. I also forgot how cool that opening sequence was until I watched it this morning. I totally forgot about it somehow and kind of had this "oh yeah" moment. Great sequence.
Thanks a lot Shades.
Hi TL.
I know what you mean about the Drew Carey show, although it seemed like the show kind of fell off the rails in the later years. I love the first hand-full of seasons. I mean they just had such great chemistry and so many great characters. I've actually been thinking all day that I've got to add some to the Netflix cue.
You also nailed my favorite getting off work tune. That song is totally good.
Happy Friday man.
Buzz Beer, Oh snap! I forgot all about that. It's funny, I used to watch it in syndication somewhat religiously back around 2000, 2001 or 2002, but I haven't seen a single episode in about 5 years or so. I really need to rent a couple disks. That show was great.
Hi Radio.
Well, I think the thing that is going to make it interesting is that it's purely based on my opinion. I didn't try to think outside of myself at all (and many of the omissions will certainly prove that).
I hope that it's intersting at the very least. I honestly am not sure how in all this will play out, but I think it's a good list that if nothing else, comes from a specific perspective. I'm actually looking forward to any backlash. I think it'll be fun.
Thanks man.

QUESTION:
How Is The Flower Travellin Band Not?
One of the greatest bands of all time? Seriously, have you ever heard them. They don't lack much being as great as Black Sabbath. I think they are easily the greatest Japanese band of all time and if the world was a fair place would be in the top 100 of all time.
I can't put links in a question cause of Yahoo right now, but if you want proof of The Flower Travellin Bands greatness I suggest you check out the following songs on youtube
Satori Part 1
Kamikaze
Hiroshima
All Of The Days
They were Doom Metal masters before the term existed, and nobody shrieks like Joe Yamanaka. Listen to a couple of the songs if you would then gives me your thoughts, please
BQ: What other Doom Metal type bands do you love? (Pentagram & The Sword Hells Yeah!)
I agree about Satori
I think my favorite right now is Make Up
They've almost cracked my Top 50
Jungle Cat, have you heard the albums
Kirikyogen, or Challenge! ?
I can see why you gave up.....
Made In Japan, Anywhere, and Make Up are almost Satori level awesome. The others less so, Challenge is mostly 60s rock covers
Kirikyogen is very good but because it was a collaboration with Kuni Kawachi it's more Proggy than thier other stuff
I'd rank their albums like this
Challenge! **
Anywhere ****
Satori *****

ANSWER:
They are in my book. I actually prefer them to Sabbath (I know, blasphemy). I kinda gave up spreading the word a while ago -- no one seemed interested. Nice to see another fan.
BTW, Satori's one of the best albums ever written.
BQ - St. Vitus maybe?

QUESTION:
Album - "Sign 'O' The Times" OR "Bad"?
Sign 'O' The Times wins.
Why? Read the description (according to en.wikipedia.org)
Sign o' the Times (stylized as Sign “☮” the Times) is a studio album by musician Prince, released March 31, 1987 on the Paisley Park record label. The album is the follow up to Parade (1986), and Prince's first "solo" album following his departure from The Revolution; the symbol between the quotes is a peace sign. Sign “☮” the Times features lyrical themes such as the depressing state of the world in the title track, gender identity/androgyny in "If I Was Your Girlfriend", party funk in "Housequake", sexual lust in "It", and spiritual enlightenment in "The Cross".
The double album was a synthesis of three projects from 1986, including some work with The Revolution. The bulk of the tracks originate from the final Revolution project known as Dream Factory and a later solo project called Camille. These projects, along with some other songs, merged into a 22-track, 3-LP opus called Crystal Ball. Prince's record company, Warner Bros. Records, balked at the idea of a 3-LP album, considering the lukewarm performance of Parade, and Prince's second film, Under the Cherry Moon, and forced Prince to trim the album down.
The album yielded three top-ten hits, the most from Prince since Purple Rain (1984). Though selling modestly, somewhat akin to Parade, Sign “☮” the Times was almost universally applauded by critics and has been cited as his greatest work. In 1989, Time Out magazine ranked it as the greatest album of all time. It was ranked #16 on the New Musical Express list of the All Time Top 100 Albums, 3rd in Hot Press magazine's list of the 100 Best Albums of All Time, and #35 on VH1's 100 Greatest Albums. The album was also placed 8th on Nieuwe Revu's Top 100 Albums of All Time. The Times listed Sign “☮” the Times as the 29th greatest album of all time.[1] In 2003, the album was ranked number 93 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.[2]
Sign 'O' The Times is also in the "definite 200 albums of all time" and Bad is not.
"Sign 'O' The Times" also sold 8 Million copies.
Sign 'O' The Times ranks #3 on the top 25 albums of 1987. (www.rateyourmusic.com)
Bad did not even make the top 30 albums of 1987!
Sign 'O' The Times was made into a great movie. IMO One of the best movies of 1987.
And once again...Bad was not.
@C^2 - That's the onlt advantage Bad has.
-
ANSWER:
Bad is actually one of my least favorite MJ albums and that's just my opinion,so it would be "Sign 'O' The Times".
EDIT: U guys seriously need to stop giving thumbs down just because a person doesnt agree with you,not everyone likes mj and not everyone likes prince,I just happen to like both but prefer prince.
